Therapeutic Recreation Camps
Therapeutic Recreation Camps are offered by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to both District and Non-District residents with or without disabilities. All registrations must take place at the DC Center for Therapeutic Recreation, 3030 G Street, SE.
An assessment by site staff must be completed prior to registration. A recreation therapist determines the skill level of the participant and will assist in selecting the best camping program to meet individual needs. DPR will host five, two-week sessions at each location. Camps operate Monday to Friday, 9 am - 5 pm.
Camp Adventure
Camp Adventure is the summer camping program designed for youth ages 6 - 16 years old with and without disabilities. The program offers a variety of experiences that include swimming, arts and crafts, group activities, horseback riding, ropes courses, trips to theme parks and much more. An assessment is required for children who have special needs.
Camp Funward Bound
Camp Funward Bound is the summer camping experience for adults ages 21 years old and over with special needs. Participants will enjoy a variety of activities that include shopping, fishing, arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, tennis and a luncheon cruise on the Spirit of Washington.
Let's Play Together Inclusion Camp
Let's Play Together Inclusion Camp is a summer camping opportunity for youth with disabilities ages 6 - 16 years old to enroll in other DPR Summer Camp programs including Camp Discovery, Little Explorers, Sports Camp. With the assistance of an Inclusion Camp Counselor, youth with disabilities can enroll in an inclusive camping or sport experience with youth without disabilities. All children will experience a variety of fun-filled activities including sports, aquatics, trips, arts and craft and much more. An assessment is required for children with special needs.
Camp Fees (per session):
District Residents: $100
Non-Residents: $150
Before and After Care Fees (per session):
District Residents: Before Care: $10; After Care: $10
Non-Residents: Before Care: $15; After Care: $15
