Summer 2008 Positions with DPR

Below is the list of DPR’s Summer 2008 position titles and descriptions.  All positions have a competitive salary, based upon experience.

DPR Summer 2008 Position Titles and Descriptions
 
Position Title                                  Position Description
Camp Counselor I
Assists Camp Counselor II in the daily supervision of 15-17 children within the assigned summer camp.  Must be 16 years of age or older and possess extensive experience working with children.
Camp Counselor II Must meet requirements of Camp Counselor I.  Responsible for a group of 15-17 children and supervises other counselors within the assigned summer camp. Must possess extensive experience working with children. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Camp Counselor III Must meet requirements of Camp Counselor II.  Oversees all staff and programs related to assigned camp.  Must possess teaching and management experience and have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Pool Manager I Pool Operator Certification required along with certification for Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Lifeguard Management.  Position requires a minimum of two years at the Lifeguard I level or a minimum of one year at Lifeguard II.  Must be 18 years of age or older.
Pool Manager II Must meet requirements of Pool Manager I.  Position requires a minimum of two years at the Pool Manager I level. Must be 21 years of age or older.
Lifeguard I Must possess current Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certification. Training is provided. Must be able to guard swimming and other water related activities along with leadership, decision making and public relations skills.  Must be 15 years of age or older.
Lifeguard II Must meet requirements of Lifeguard I.  Must possess current Water Safety Instructor certification.  Must be 16 years of age or older.
Sports Specialist I Responsible for teaching fundamentals of various sports to campers ages 6-12. Sport camps include: basketball, soccer, football, tennis, cheerleading, pom-pon and more. Must posses a basic knowledge of rules and regulations of assigned specialty. Must be 16 years of age or older.
Sports Specialist II Must meet requirements of Sports Specialist I.  Responsible for teaching advanced fundamentals of various sports. Monitors groups of 10-15 campers ages 6-12 and ensures the development of campers’ sporting skills and principles. Implements activities as outlined in the camp curriculum in the absence of the Sports Specialist III.  Must be 18 years of age or older.
Sports Specialist III Must meet requirements of Sports Specialist II.  Responsible for overseeing staff, activities and implementation of the camp curriculum. Must possess extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of various sports. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Custodial Staff Assists with maintenance duties such as grounds keeping, cleaning of facilities, removal of trash, etc.  Performs other duties as assigned. Previous maintenance experience preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older.
Motor Vehicle Operator Must possess a current, valid government issued driver’s license and have a clean driving record free of accidents within the past 3 years. Must be able to perform general warehouse such as packing and unpacking supplies, and able to handle objects that weigh over 50 pounds. Must be 21 years of age or older.
Day Care Aide I Assist Day Care staff in the daily supervision of 10-15 children ages 2-5 years.  Must posses experience working with children.  Must be 18 years of age or older.
Day Care Aide II Must meet requirements of Day Care Aide I. Oversees all staff and programs related to an assigned camp.  Must possess teaching and management experience.  Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills. B.A. or B.S. in Early Childhood Education is preferred.  Must be 21 years of age or older.
Assist Day Care staff in the daily supervision of 10-15 children ages 2-5 years.  Must posses experience working with children.  Must be 18 years of age or older.
Food Monitor Responsible for ensuring sites participating in the Food Feeding Program follow guidelines set by USDA, assists with completion of program paperwork.  Must be familiar with the DC area.  Must be 25 years of age or older.
Recreation Aide I Assists Recreation Aide II in the daily supervision of 15-30 children ages 3-5 years old within the assigned summer camp. Experience working with children experience preferred.  Must be 18 years of age or older.
Recreation Aide II Must meet requirements of Recreation Aide I. Monitors groups of 15-30 children ages 3–5 years old and engage campers in activities as outlined in the camp curriculum. Prepares supplies for daily activities, supervises campers on field trips, assist in serving daily meals and ensures a clean and healthy environment for campers. Prior childcare experience preferred.  Serves as designee in absence of the Recreation Aide III.  Must be 21 years of age or older.
Recreation Aide III Must meet requirements of Recreation Aide II.  Responsible for overseeing the staff, activities and the total implementation of the camp curriculum related to the assigned camp. Must possess teaching and management experience.  Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills. B.A. or B.S. in Early Childhood Education is preferred.  Must be 21 years of age or older.
